Subcontracting

WHY SUBCONTRACTING EVENTS?

The combination of a shortage of qualified subcontractors and the approval of $2.5 billion of state projects has created an immediate need for training and networking opportunities to get more subs interested in state contracting. The Texas State SBDC and the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) are hosting subcontracting events to get small business owners connected with the people who can help them get qualified and the primes who are looking for subs.

Our goal is to have a subcontracting event before each major package hits the street. We did an event for the "John H. Winters Building Water Remediation Project" on 1/6/2017 and the "Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) & Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired (TSBVI) Campus-Wide Deferred Maintenance Project" on 4/13/2017.

Didn't attend the recent event? Don't worry- we took good notes and put together "Key Takeaways" from the event. We've also uploaded the project manual and project drawings, in addition to other resources you may need. Questions about the TSD-TSBVI projector how to get an invitation to bid? Contact the HUB Coordinator at Flintco, Shannon Dunn, shannon.dunn@flintco.com, 512.822.7468.

MOST RECENT SUBCONTRACTING EVENT

The information included in the "Key Takeaways" document below was compiled by the Texas State SBDC based on notes taken by our staff at the April 13, 2017 event. We made every effort to accurately reflect what was said during the event. The content has not been "officially" reviewed by the TFC. Specific questions about TFC projects should be directed to Yolanda Strey, the HUB Coordinator for the TFC, yolanda.strey@tfc.state.tx.us. Questions about the sub events should be directed to Nora Saim, n_d82@txstate.edu.
